RCL PRO

The RCL is an advanced 12V compatible lighting interface.

​

It monitors each input to filter any unwanted data signal that the vehicle may use in lamp failure detection, and trailer detection.

​

It detects if the vehicle has a combined stop/tail (single bulb) circuit or a separate tail light and splits it into separate stop and tail feeds to the trailer.

​

The RCL requires a separate power feed from the either the battery, boot light or ignition / auxiliary feed, and draws <2 mA to operate.

Intelligent Monitoring

Many modern vehicles, especially those from Europe, monitor the state ofthe lighting circuits by using breif voltage pulses or a low current to check the bulb filaments.

These lamp detection signals can cause LED trailer lights to turn on briefly.

The RCL blocks these signals to their trailer lamps, as well as eliminating fault codes by prohibiting the trailer lamps from being detected by the vehicle electronics.

The four RCL channels are compatible with trailers fitted with incandescent or LED lights.

Protection

• Prevents blown vehicle fuses and damage to the vehicle Body Control Module (BCM) from a short circuit in the trailer wiring.

• Enables the vehicle lighting to continue operating if there is a short or open circuit in the trailer wiring.

• Automatically recovers from a short circuit in the trailer wiring.

• Compatible with vehicles having combined stop / tail lights or separate stop / tail lights.

• Will carry a maximum load of 42 watts for a 12V feed.

• All 4 output channels to the trailer are protected. Left, Right, Stop and Tail.

• All light signal types for both PWM (i.e. multiplexed) and Non-PWM vehicles.

• Compatible with separate (i.e. separate signal feed) stop and tail lights as well as single feed stop tail light wire feeds for combined rear stop and tail lights

• Suitable for vehicles using either LED and/or incandescent bulbs

• Eliminates false dashboard bulb-out warning lights caused by some other brands.

• Suitable for all vehicle types i.e. EV, hybrid, PHEV, hydrogen, petrol and diesel running standard +12V electrical systems.
